Every once in a while, I get obsessed with a crazy idea. Sometimes, it is related to work and that is a good thing, as I will knock myself out trying to write some C#, Java, or other type of code that makes my life easier.
At other times, I get an obsession related to comics. A thought gets lodged in my brain like a splinter under my skin.
Take my mousepad. Why do I have such a dreary mousepad? Most normal people wouldn't give it a second thought. But I can't let it go. I want a comics related mousepad, and not just one of those you can buy off the shelf with stock art from Marvel/DC.
No, I want to have a mouse-pad with my favorite Giant-Size cover of all time, Giant-Size Defenders #1 (artwork by Gil Kane, featuring the greatest non-team team of the Hulk, Doctor Strange, Sub-Mariner, and Silver Surfer):
I was grinning like the Joker when this arrived in the mail a few years ago. There are a number of sites that do custom mousepad printing, but you have to find one that will accept images that are licensed. Zazzle rejected my request, for example. FedEx accepted and made them for me, but I believe they stopped this service. I don't really see anything wrong with making them as long as we are not selling them without a license.
Since you save on postage if you get two at the same time, I also had my favorite King-Size Conan Annual #1 (artwork by Barry Windsor Smith) turned into a mouse pad:
This is a really good mousepad to use when you need to squash some bugs in your code. By Crom, it actually works!
Obsession complete, my mind can go back to something resembling work. Nuff Said!
